Callie Khouri‘s Thelma & Louise is a controversial film. Some feminists consider it an example of how women can be criticised for defending themselves against misogynists. Other feminists claim it’s not really a feminist film at all, and is more about revenge and violence. Some have said it’s an attack on men, due to the way they’re presented through the story.
Whatever it is, Academy Awards awarded it Best Original Screenplay, Chicago Film Critics Association nominated it for Best Screenplay, Golden Globe Award awarded it Best Screenplay – Motion Picture, Literary Award awarded it Screenplay and Writers Guild of America Award awarded it Best Screenplay and Best Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen. The screenplay’s now available to read from Daily Script.
