Official fan art of me by the Well-Red Mage

As part of Inktober, the Well-Red Mage decided to draw some of us. Not expecting anything to come from me confirming my interest, I was notified in our Discord server that he’d tagged me in a post, which was of the original post below:

Seeing this was just the coolest thing. I still don’t quite think I can describe it. Anyway, not being one to shy away from a challenge, I proposed that I digitally colourise it, despite having very little image manipulation skills. So, upon being given permission, I set out to see what I could do. I was already familiar with GIMP 2.0 , so I soon figured out the best way of going about it. It was only a matter of time and patience before I achieved the effect I’d envisioned. There’s lots of fine detail and I even needed to use several layers at one point but I think it works just fine. There’s probably a few cracks showing in a couple of places up close. That’s okay, though. I still just love the fact that this even exists.

As you can see, “SPIEL” isn’t as prominent in this version and the black areas in the corners have less contrast, exposing the way that I recoloured the background to be the same tone – which is what made it so difficult to maintain some of the finer splash crackle. Either way, I’m using this as my avatar as much as I can. I’ve already started using it as my Twitter profile picture.

Anyway, as you were,
