Series 10 trailer officially released

To the TARDIS! Join the Doctor, Bill and Nardole in “The Pilot” on 15th April

Following a leak from Australian Broadcasting Corporation at the weekend, the Series 10 trailer has now officially been released properly by the BBC. This trailer debuted at half-time of The FA Cup – Quarter-Final: Chelsea v Manchester United.

Series 10 trailer premieres tonight, first episode titled and more…

A new image for “Doctor Who” Series 10 is released, ahead of a 60-second trailer for the season premiering on BBC One tonight (Monday, 13th March) during half-time of “The FA Cup” quarter final match between Chelsea and Manchester United.

The image features Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, with Pearl Mackie as his new companion Bill Potts, and Matt Lucas as Nardole. “Doctor Who” returns to BBC One on Saturday 15 April with episode 1, “The Pilot”.

The Doctor Who press office have announced that Series 10’s trailer (which was leaked a few days ago by Australian Broadcasting Corporation via Google Drive) will officially premiere tonight properly on BBC One during the half time of The FA Cup episode Quarter-Final: Chelsea v Manchester United. This will be between 20:30 and 20:45 GMT. Whether or not this will be in anyway different from the leaked trailer in order to compensate remains to be seen.

The same press release also confirmed that Series 10’s premiere episode is to be titled The Pilot (which is written by Steven Moffat). The working title from location reports was A Star in Her EyeThe Pilot‘s title has a double-meaning; both as the Doctor being the TARDIS pilot (or possibly Nardole being the TARDIS valet), and the way that the introduction of new audience surrogate character Bill Potts essentially makes the episode a series pilot for a new audience.

Plus, the official Series 10 promotional image has been released. In the image, we see: a red planet (possibly Mars, which is featured in an upcoming episode written by Mark Gatiss); ice on the ground (which could refer to the frozen Thames featured in an upcoming episode by Sarah Dollard); fire (which could refer to the fiery monsters seen on location) and Earth – which could possibly be Earth’s twin planet, Mondas – home planet of the Mondasian Cybermen, which are to return this season.

And finally, Kris Marshall – in an interview in Herald Sun, quoted in Doctor Who TV, has denied involvement with Doctor Who in the future. Marshall has become the leading name in the speculation as to who will be the Thirteenth Doctor. Marshall announced his departure from Death in Paradise in the same week that Peter Capaldi announced his departure from Doctor Who, and became such a popular choice as a result that bookmakers were forced to stop betting on Marshall’s name. In the interview, Marshall said:

I wouldn’t put any money on it yet.”
